Airport 'Project Runway' Completes Ahead of Schedule

More than a year ahead of schedule, and ready for traffic.
Evansville Regional Airport and city officials are celebrating the completion of a major runway construction project.
It was federally mandated in order to meet FAA safety standards.
It involved shifting one of the runways about 2500 feet.
This eliminated an intersection with another runway, and moved it further away from busy Highway 41.
A time lapse video of the project illustrates how the project completed far ahead of projections.
The project was to be competed by December of 2015--but airport officials say planes could begin using the runway as early as next week.
A dedication ceremony is set for Friday.
Due to security issues, the public will not be able to attend.
But we'll be there and we'll have more for you later today on Eyewitness News.
