The Vanderburgh Humane Society is dealing with what they call a population explosion.
The Vanderburgh Humane Society is dealing with what they call a population explosion.

The humane society takes in around 50 rabbits in a year. They have 21 already, and it's just March.

Executive Director Kendall Paul said fast breeding times coupled with pets that are not fixed are the primary culprits. Paul says a new deal will allow people to save a life, and some cash. Paul says they will hold the rabbits as long as there is enough space for all of them.

The VHS is open Tuesday through Saturday, noon to 6 p.m. and open until 7 p.m. on Fridays.
