Suspect in Deadly Fire Appears in Court

A judge denies bond for 31-year-old Christopher Compton. He faces 3 murder charges, along with arson, for the fire on West Franklin St. Monday.
UPDATE: The man facing murder and arson charges for Monday's deadly fire in Evansville is denied bond during his first court appearance Tuesday morning. 31 year old Christopher Compton is scheduled for another court hearing Friday.

Original: Evansville Police arrested 31 year old Christopher Compton for Monday's deadly fire on W. Franklin Street.

Evansville Police say the fire was started a little after 4:00 that afternoon.

Officials say three people died, two adults and a young child. Four people on the second floor were able to escape through a window, but suffered injuries. Two of them were transferred to Wishard burn unit in Indianapolis.
Compton was located a short time later and was arrested after being interviewed by detectives. He is being held in the Vanderburgh County Jail.
Autopsies are scheduled for Tuesday afternoon on the 3 victims who died.
