AT&T is hiring again. The company claims to have hired more than 90 people in Evansville since the beginning of the year. Now AT&T is announcing 40 more positions in call centers and stores located in Evansville.
Statewide, the communications company has hired more than 340 employees since the beginning of the year.
The announcement of these available positions continues a positive trend for AT&T in this part of the state. Between January and June of this year, the company has hired nearly 90 people in Evansville for technician, call center and retail openings. AT&T has invested nearly $1.75 billion in its Indiana wireless and wireline networks between 2011 and 2013, including more than $325 million during the first half of 2013 alone. The network investment is part of AT&T’s Project Velocity IP (VIP), a three-year investment plan announced in fall 2012 to expand and enhance its IP broadband networks.
“It’s great to see that AT&T continues to invest in our community, which has led to employment opportunities for our citizens,” said State Rep. Wendy McNamara.
“We appreciate AT&T’s commitment to Evansville,” said Evansville Mayor Lloyd Winnecke. “Not only is the company ensuring that our businesses and consumers remain competitive through network enhancements, they’ve consistently been hiring here since the beginning of 2014.”
