Attempted Armed Robbery at Gas Station Doesn't Go as Planned

An alleged robbery at a gas station in Evansville doesn't go as planned for the would-be robber; the victim fought back.
In Evansville, an alleged robbery at gunpoint doesn't go as planned for the would be robber.

Police say it happened around 5:30 Tuesday morning at the Marathon Gas Station on Fulton; just north of the Lloyd Expressway.
Police say the victim, James Shelton was standing at a gas pump when the suspect, 50 year old James Worthington, rode up on a bike and demaned Shelton empty his pockets at gunpoint.

Police say Shelton then told man there was money in the car - but instead of cash - Shelton grabbed a golf club and started swinging.
Worthington was taken to the hospital for his injuries. He was then taken to the county jail. He faces charges of attempted robbery, pointing a handgun and resisting law enforcement.
As it turns out, the gun was actually a BB gun.
