Authorities Release Names of Apartment Fire Victims

Charges have been filed for the man accused of starting an apartment fire in Evansville.

UPDATE: The names of the victims who died in the fire have been released by the Vanderburgh County Coroner's Office.

28 year-old Keri Jones and her daughter, 3 year-old Jazmine Jones died in the fire on West Franklin Street.
76 year-old Donald Lankford also died in the fire.
 
All were residents of the apartment and died of smoke inhalation.
Charges have been filed for the man accused of starting an apartment fire in Evansville.

Christopher Compton is charged with three counts of murder and four counts of arson in relation to the fire on 29 West Franklin Street on March 17.

According to Evansville Police, Compton admitted to setting fire to a jacket in the hallway of the apartment. Police also say a lighter was found on Compton.

Three people died in the fire and eight were injured. Two were flown to Wishard Memorial Hospital in Indianapolis.

Four firefighters were also hurt in the fire.
