Authorities Searching for Suspect in Stolen Weapon Investigation

Two stolen weapons are recovered by the Vanderburgh County Sheriff's Office in less than 24 hours.
A stolen weapon is recovered by the Vanderburgh County Sheriff's Office, but the man who allegedly had it in his vehicle got away before deputies could arrest him.

Investigators say 23-year-old Charles Thomas was driving near Baker St. and Franklin St. in Evansville on Wednesday. Deputies say one of the passengers wasn't wearing a seatbelt. So, they pulled the vehicle over, and Thomas took off running.

Inside the SUV, they say they found a handgun that turned out to be reported stolen in Owensboro.

If you have any information about where Thomas may be, let authorities know right away.
