Barging Right Into Newburgh

We watch them come and go along the Ohio River but on Saturday, folks had the chance to see a barge up close and personal.
We watch them come and go along the Ohio River, but it's a rare treat to see one up close.
Saturday, the Newburgh Riverfront was bustling with folks who got the chance to tour American Electric Power's "Legacy".
Crew members gave free guided tours on the barge and tow boat duet all day.

"Well this is just an amazing turnout. I'm not entirely surprised. The people  in Newburgh and Warrick County and really all along the river love the barge traffic watching the river and learning about the river history," said Director of Historic Newburgh, Carol Schaefer.

There's no word if this will be an annual event, but the historic community hopes to continue providing educational opportunities on the Newburgh Riverfront.
