A company in Carmi could be chosen to help battle the Ebola outbreak in West Africa. The United Nations is asking Elastec, American Marine to submit a bid for one of its products.
The Mediburn is a portable incinerator designed and manufactured in Carmi. Elastec, American Marine sales manager Jeremy Pretzsch said the product is being used in more than 60 countries already.
Pretzsch said the $30,000 unit has a second barrel that burns emissions which would stop the spread of disease.
Pretzsch said the company should know the United Nation’s decision by next week.
