Castle High School Coach Resigns Amid Student Allegations

Beau Hobson taught English and coached girl's basketball at Castle High School. After students accused him of unprofessional behavior Hobson resigned with just a few weeks left in the school year.
Students at Castle High School took accusations to school administrators alleging Coach Hobson was acting inappropriately and unprofessionally with students. "Once the administration was made aware of those they began an immediate investigation of the accusations." Warrick County Superintendent Brad Schneider would not say specifically what the accusations were, but he did say there were no accusations of physical contact, and there is no criminal investigation, but Schneider says there was merit to the student's claims. "The investigation itself wasn't complete, but I do think the investigation was heading that way. The allegations made were being supported by evidence," said Schneider.
Hobson planned to resign at the end of the school year to coach the boy's basketball team at Gibson Southern High School. Where he played for in the early 2000's. But after Warrick County administrators confronted him with the allegations, he immediately resigned from Castle High School.

Superintendent Stacey Humbaugh of the South Gibson School Corporation says she is aware of Hobson's recent resignation from Castle High School, but she had no further comment.

Schneider says he commends the students for coming forward and making administrators aware of the alleged situation. He says every claim is taken seriously and keeping public trust is a high priority. "It's just unfortunate because we need and require a high level of public trust in order to be effective. Because let's face it people are sending us their most valuable resources. They're sending us their children to be educated," said Schneider.
