Celebrating 'End-Dependence' Day

United Caring Shelters honors its volunteers who make such a difference to the homeless and disadvantaged.
July 4th might be a distant memory, but one Evansville organization is celebrating its 'End-Dependence' today.

United Caring Shelters is honoring the volunteers who make such a difference to the homeless and disadvantaged. The open house featured live music and barbeque, and a special program to honor volunteers.

Executive Director Kimron Reising says the organization serves ten-thousand meals each month. He also says with more than 300 volunteers, the biggest thing they offer is hope.

"Our volunteers continuously tell me that, they get more out of being here than they give. It's that feeling of being able to give back and help somebody who is in great need," said Reising.

Reising says around 75% of the organization's operating budget, comes from donations.
