Chief Deputy Wedding to Serve as Interim Sheriff

Chief Deputy Wedding was unanimously voted to replace Sheriff Eric Williams until the end of the year.
Chief Deputy Dave Wedding will serve as Vanderburgh County's next sheriff.

Democratic precinct committee members held a caucus Saturday where they unanimously voted for Wedding to be Sheriff Eric Williams' short-term successor.

Wedding was the only candidate to file for the position. He will fill out the remainder of Williams' term, which ends December 31st.
Sheriff Williams last day is May 23rd.
Wedding will be sworn in as sheriff that day.

Wedding is also a candidate for sheriff this fall. He's facing opposition from Kirk Byram in the November election.
