Church Remembers Watson Family

Members of Calvary Baptist Church in Central City remembered the Watson family at a service Sunday morning.
Members of Calvary Baptist Church in Central City remembered the Watson family at a service Sunday morning.

Nine of the eleven family members died in a fire early Thursday. Eight of the victims were children. Only the father and a daughter survived. They are being treated for burn wounds in Nashville.

Investigators say flammable materials near an electric baseboard heater caused the fire.

"Words cannot say how we feel," Pastor Timothy Burden said. "But, I do know this: we have a God that's bigger than any crisis we will ever face."

Members of the church set out eleven candles in honor of the family. They plan to keep the candles lit until the surviving members of the family return home.
