The Evansville City Council passes an ordinance that streamlines the building permit process for apartments and condos.

It eliminates developments from having to go through the Indiana Subdivision Review Committee for final consideration.

Area Plan Commission officials say the committee meets monthly, meaning the permitting process can take four to six weeks to complete.

Mayor Lloyd Winnecke says the change will make it easier for the public to do business with city government.
