Evansville city officials are temporarily changing the way they treat the city's water supply.
Evansville city officials are temporarily changing the way they treat the city's water supply. The Water and Sewer Utility will be using free chlorine instead of chloarmines from June 18 to July 16.

Free chlorine is a slightly stronger disinfectant, which can be used to remove more bacteria and viruses. City officials say state drinking water guidelines recommends switching to free chlorine for a period of time.

Some customers may notice a slight change in taste and smell in their tap water, but officials say it's still safe for people and animals.
