It's back to the drawing board for OMU officials after a water rate increase is denied. Owensboro city commissioners voted it down 3-0 last night.

The average water rate would've gone up by about $5.50 per household over two years. The increase was requested to fund repairs to a water treatment plant.

A spokesperson says utility commission members could discuss their next plan of action at tomorrow morning's board meeting.
