Today Evansville City Cemeteries Superintendent, Chris Cooke, issued a press release regarding the alleged comments and threats
made about him by City Council member Stephanie Brinkerhoff-Riley.
This is his formal statement:
"The comments allegedly made by Ms. Brinkerhoff-Riley are certainly troubling. Out of an abundance of caution, I reported this matter to the authorities. I want to take this opportunity to state in the most emphatic way possible that I am most certainly not a racist. I have a long history over the course of my entire life, in athletics, my volunteer work and professionally, of respecting and promoting diversity. I am hopeful that she will refrain from making threatening and false comments about me in the future. While I have yet to receive any apology from her, I wanted to wish her well as she battles the alcoholism she blames for her odd behavior."
