The Mining Safety and Health Administration confirms the collapse happened at the Camp 9 Prep Plant, which washes coal for the Highland 9 Mine. MSHA says part of the top floor at fell through to the bottom floor.
We're told there were six people inside the plant when this happened, but they got out after hearing the structure crack and pop. MSHA says all electricty was turned off at the plant.
The operator is going to bring in structural engineers and a construction company to repair the plant and make sure the rest of the structure is safe.
We tried contacting Patriot Coal about the collapse. At this hour, our calls have not been returned.
