A Henderson County community receives a recreational boost to a local park. Officials cut the ribbon to the Recreational Park in Baskett, Kentucky today.

Construction on the $130,000 project began last Fall and finished up yesterday. The park now includes a playground, basketball courts, two small shelters, and a walking trail.

"We've got people from Spottsville coming here playing," said Henderson County Judge/Executive Hugh McCormick. "We've got a school not too far away that can come over and use this. The walking trail, people were using it before we got it done. So, that's the things we want to see. We want to see it used. And the more used, the better it will be for us."

Several volunteers also worked to realign the park's baseball field and repair the fence. The first game for the field will be at the end of May.
