Some changes are coming to E.W. Scripps, the parent company of the Courier and Press and the Gleaner.
E.W. Scripps Co. plans to merge with Journal Communications. Both companies will spin their newspaper companies into a new publicly-traded company, Journal Media Group.
Radio and television stations will stay with, Cincinatti-based, Scripps. The deal will make Scripps the nation’s 5th largest independent broadcasting company in the US.
Journal Media Group will be based in Milwaukee and employee 3600 people.
Scripps has been in the newspaper business for 130 years.
The change will likely have no change on local staffing or news operations.
