Convention Hotel Construction Could Resume this Summer

The construction on a new downtown hotel in Evansville could resume construction this summer.

The Mayor fully expects work on the new downtown convention hotel to restart this summer.

When it's all said and done, he still expects it to be a Hilton.

Evansville Mayor Lloyd Winnecke says getting the franchise agreement is the first step in the process.

That's an agreement with Hilton or possibly another hotel.

The Mayor expects the financials to be sorted out later this month, then the private sector funding should start falling into place.

Hotel construction was delayed when tri-state developer John Dunn of Dunn hospitality filed a request to have Hilton withdraw it's agreement with the new hotel.

Dunn hospitality owns and operates a Hilton hotel in Evansville.
