Some downtown residents are sad to see the Race for the Cure move back to Evansville’s east side.

Representatives from Evansville Tri-State Susan G. Komen for the Cure announced the move Wednesday. Organizers cited the need for a change and the space and parking Eastland Mall provides.

Charleen Williamson, president of the Wheeler Neighborhood Association, said she was thrilled when the race was moved to the downtown area years ago.

“I probably speak for most of them to say we’re kind of sad they’ve chosen not to come back down here,” Williamson said.

Williamson admits not all residents were happy with the festivities. 911 calls from the day of the race reveal one resident angrily complaining about noise.
