First Avenue in Evansville is back open tonight. It was closed for more than an hour after a child was hit by a car.

It happened around 6 p.m. Evansville police say a 10 year-old boy was crossing First Avenue at Florida when a semi drove by, blocking the view of a car. That car, we're told, hit the boy.

Officers say the boy rolled onto the hood of the car. He was taken to Deaconess Hospital and suffered a broken leg and hip.

The driver was not injured, but was taken to the hospital for a blood test.
