Vanderburgh County is selected to help improve learning for low income Pre-K students.
Indiana Governor Mike Pence says  it is among 5 counties that will help prepare low income 4 year-olds in classes.  Allen, Jackson, Lake, Marion and Vanderburgh counties will host the pilot program.
The selection process was based on a determination of need and the county's ability and readiness to meet that need.
The 2014 General Assembly established the pilot program in House Enrolled Act 1004.  It funds services for private and public .
