The Evansville Fire Department battled a vacant house fire for the second time in a little more than a week.

The Evansville Fire Department battled a vacant house fire for the second time in a little more than a week.

The fire happened early Sunday morning in the 700 block of Bellemeade Ave. EFD Public Information Officer Richard Howard said the fire, which looks suspicious, began in the front porch of the home. Firefighters worked to contain the blaze, but there was minor damage to one home next door.

Howard said they are investigating a connection to the fire that happened on Line Street last week because of similiarities and proximity.

Howard said the home will be demolished eventually.

No injuries were reported.
