When police officers respond to a crisis, they rely on their training. And today, Evansville Police enhanced their training.

Members of EPD's crisis negotiation team have been attending advanced training all this week. This team responds to everything from hostage situations to people who are mentally unstable.

Today was "Scenario Day" at the FOP Lodge near downtown.

"For us, it's really important," said Sgt. Darren Sroufe. "Unless you actually get the real, hands on, on the job training, for us it hones our skills ahead of time, so we're prepared to respond to real life incidents."

EPD brought in some national experts in the field of crisis negotiation for these week-long seminars.
