EPD Fires Shots, Arrests Carjacking Suspect

The Evansville Police Department arrested an armed carjacking suspect Saturday morning near Sugar Mill Creek Apartments.
Evansville Police say 36-year-old Myles Martin and an unknown female were sitting in a parking lot in the 2300 block of Green River Road this morning when a business owner pulled into the the lot to open her store.

As the store owner parked her SUV, Martin approached her with a gun and told her to get out.

Officers tell us Martin took the SUV, heading north on Green River Road.

Minutes later, he was found a short distance away at the the Sugar Mill Creek Apartment Complex.

Martin refused to surrender and tried to flee the scene in the stolen SUV.

We're told Martin drove into a field next to the apartment complex and got stuck, then tried to run away on foot.
Officers caught Martin and found his gun inside the SUV.

He was arrested for armed robbery.
