EPD hosts "Kops Kookin' For Kids Kicks"

A fundraiser to benefit students at Glenwood Leadership Academy was hosted by the EPD. Proceeds will go to buying shoes for the new school year.
Evansville Police take to the grill to help gear up local kids for the upcoming school year. EPD hosted a cookout at the Green River Road Shoe Carnival where they sold food to help raise money to buy new shoes for kids at Glenwood Leadership Academy. Officers say a donation from Sketchers has already put new kicks on kids in grades K through 5. They're now trying to raise enough to buy shoes for the 150 students in grades six through eight. In addition to being a necessity, Officers say the shoes give kids added confidence as they head back to class.

Sergeant Jason Cullum says, "I could still remember that feeling of having new shoes when school started every year. Can't explain why you feel that way. You just do! There is a lot of kids at that school that have never had that experience. Even at 11, 12 years old, they've always had second hand".
