The Evansville Police Department is training officers to use new life-saving equipment.

Community donations to the EPD Foundation allowed the department to buy tactical medical kits for every patrol officer.

The kits will allow police to give immediate care to victims. Training on how to use the kits started today. EPD foundation board member Dan Arens says this is a great thing, because police officers are usually the first on the scene.

This is just the latest of live-saving programs by the department. EPD also has a 'tourniquet program' which has been very successful in the past.
