Staying on the issue of sewers, Evansville city leaders are in Indianapolis today meeting with state and federal officials about its own massive sewer overhaul plan.
Mayor Lloyd Winnecke and Water-Sewer Utility Director Allen Mounts are responding to the EPA's disapproval of a proposed 540-million dollar plan to reduce combined sewer overflows over 28 years.
The EPA wants a more expensive solution over less years, something the mayor says would create a huge burden on rate payers.
The congressional transportation and infrastructure subcommittee joined the meeting from Washington DC.
Evansville was one of several cities at today's hearing.
