Evansville firefighters were busy Wednesday morning, working multiple house fires.
Evansville firefighters were busy Wednesday morning, working multiple house fires.
The first call came in around 2:30 in the 1200 block of Corregidor Circle.
Neighbors reported hearing an explosion and seeing a gas meter on fire.
Firefighters quickly started evacuating surrounding homes as Vectren crews searched for a possible gas leak.
Residents were allowed back in their homes about an hour later.
Around that same time, another house fire was reported in the 700 block of Bellemeade Avenue.
Firefighters say they've responded to several fires on this street over the past few months.
They tell us the home that burned this morning was vacant and had no electric service.
Right now it is being called suspicious.
Investigators are now looking into the cause.
Nobody was hurt in either of these early morning incidents.
