Evansville Icon Passes Away

Long-time pastor, R.R. Schwambach, passes away Saturday at the age of 88.
An Evansville icon passes away.

According to 1-on-1 pastor, Steven Schwambach, Bethel Church's long-time paster, R.R. Schwambach died Saturday at the age of 88.

He founded the nation's second Dial-A-Prayer ministry, was voted "Favorite Clergyman" by Evansville Sunday Courier and Press readers, and founded Evansville Christian School - these are just a few of Schwambach's many life achievements.

During his lifetime, he was also honored by former Evansville Mayor Frank McDonald and Governor Evan Bayh.

Visitation and funeral services for Schwambach will be held Tuesday at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel in Evansville.
