Evansville Teachers Assoc. Holds Meeting to Inform Members About Tentative Agreement

Members learned about the details of the tentative contract agreement between the ETA and the EVSC.
On Thursday, the Evansville Teachers Association wrapped up two days of meetings discussing details of their tentative contract with the EVSC.
Here is a summary of the tentative agreement that was sent to us from the Evansville Teachers Association. Voting will take place Sept. 2nd - 4th.

  • Leaves and benefits structures remain essentially unchanged.

  • For 2014-15, all teachers receive a 2% increase on base salary. The Extra Duties Schedule is also increased by 2%. The resulting salary range is $35,081-63,540.

  • Future base salary increases will be determined by performance pay.

  • Performance pay is awarded based on a point system, compliant with the criteria in state statute.

  • Each year, point value is determined by dividing the total dollar amount bargained by the total points earned corporation-wide. It is expected that each point will worth between $200-300 for 2014-15.

  • Teachers in high-need schools (year 4 of Priority status as defined by IDOE or 80% or higher free and reduced lunch status) may earn additional performance pay.

    • After years 1 and 2, teachers are paid a stipend equivalent to two points.

    • After year 3, teachers’ base salary is increased by the equivalent of two points plus the stipend amounts earned in years 1 and 2.

  • Several examples are provided in the chart below, assuming a consistent $250 point value.

Teacher 1: Earns E/HE for 3 years

Teacher 2: Earns E/HE and PD for 3 years

Teacher 3: Earns E/HE and PD and works at a high-need school for 3 years
