Victim Identified in Fatal Hit and Run Accident

Authorities in Warrick County continue to look for driver who hit a man this morning on Epworth Road.
        UPDATE-The victim from this morning’s hit and run crash in Warrick County has been identified by the Sheriff's Office as 42-year-old Jeremy Compton of Washington Street in Newburgh.
        Investigators believe Compton ran out of gas at the intersection of Epworth Road and Lincoln Avenue and was walking southbound on Epworth Road to get fuel for his vehicle.
        Compton was found lying along the roadside shortly after 2:00 a.m. by passing motorists.
        Right now authorities are still working to figure out what time the crash actually occurred.
        The victim was last seen shortly after midnight walking away from Deaconess Gateway Hospital.
        Any information about the crash regardless of how minor it may seem should be reported to the Warrick County Sheriff’s Office at 897-6180.

Eyewitness News is on the scene of a fatal hit and run in Warrick County.
It happened just after 2:00 Thursday morning on Epworth Road near Chippewa Drive.
Dispatchers tell us the victim was struck by a vehicle which then fled the area.  A passing motorist discovered the victim and alerted authorities.
