The FBI has now opened a criminal investigation of the Veterans Affairs Department..
The agency is still dealing with a scandal linked to long waiting lists.

The move satisfies at least some of the requests from key members of congress who have been pressing for a full probe by the Justice Department.

That includes at least two senators that represent the tristate.

Indiana Senator Dan Coats and Illinois Senator Dick Durbin join 20 other lawmakers who signed a letter asking Attorney General Eric Holder to investigate any criminal wrong doing .

The findings of a recent veterans affairs audit were just released this week.

They show more than a hundred facilities were flagged for further review.

That includes the Indianapolis VA hospital where the report showed new patients trying to see a doctor wait about 54 days on average.

The hospital in Marion, Illinois also flagged, the wait times for new patients there averaged about 38 days.

The report states more than 230 people in Indiana who enrolled in the VA health care system over the past ten years apparently fell through the cracks, and never received appointments.

That same situation is believed to have happened to nearly 500 people at the Marion, Illinois facility.
