Federal Appeal Filed over Indiana Cold Beer Sales

The legal battle to allow cold beer sales in Indiana convenient stores isn't over just yet.
The legal battle to allow cold beer sales in Indiana convenient stores isn't over just yet.

The Indiana Petroleum Marketers and Convenience Store Association is now appealing the recent federal ruling to uphold Indiana's current law that keeps retailers from being able to sell cold beer.

Right now, only liquor stores can sell "chilled" beer. Other stores must sell it at room temperature.

In the federal appeal filed today, the group says "there is no rational basis to allow liquor stores to hold a monopoly on cold beer, especially when their compliance rate with Indiana alcohol laws are so poor."

The same members filing the lawsuit have also filed a claim in Marion County, saying the state's law violates the Indiana Constitution.
