Posey County officials are trying to determine was caused a massive fire that burned through a church building.
Crews were called to the 1500 block of Copperline Road in Mt. Vernon just before 2 Thursday morning.
When crews arrived, the church was fully engulfed.
Firefighters were able to get the fire under control, and had to stay on scene for some time to put out hot spots.
Bobby Black has owned the church since 2001. He said there used to be services, but he has used the facility as office space for the past few years.
Black says one firefighter was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
A cause for the fire has not been determined.
