Firefighters Helping South Hopkins Fire Dept. Rebuild

Several Hopkins Co. fire departments are helping South Hopkins F.D. rebuild after a fire destroyed their station.
While the State Fire Marshal looks into what caused the fire at South Hopkins Fire Department, others are stepping in to help their brothers.

The White Plains Fire Department let them have equipment, including one of their reserve fire trucks. Several Hopkins County departments will help respond to calls in their coverage area, which spans a large part of the county.

"They're going to call for mutual aid, and there's departments all around that's willing to help them, they're going to meet the need," says White Plains Fire Chief Jason Eli. "I think the citizens will be well protected."

The Madisonville Fire Department also pitched in today, bringing crews some extra drinks to stay cool, and letting them use their equipment for the fire investigation.
