Flood Control Project Underway in Owensboro

A new flood control project is underway near one of Owensboro's busier streets.

City officials broke ground on a flood basin project at Moreland Park, just off of Parrish Avenue.

Engineers say the basin will remove storm water that causes flooding along Parrish and Griffith avenues.

The project costs nearly $160,000 and is expected to be done in a few years.

City engineers say more pipes connecting the basin to nearby inlets will also be installed once the basin is done.
