Fmr. City Council Member Says Brinkerhoff-Riley Threatened Him Online

Former Evansville city council member Curt John said Brinkerhoff-Riley threatened him online and then apologized for it.

Evansville city council vice president Stephanie Brinkerhoff-Riley remains under fire. Former city council member Curt John said Brinkerhoff-Riley threatened him online and then apologized for it.

John said his wife found a blog post on the City-County Observer that said “death is the only thing that will save this community from that guy.” Shortly after he contacted authorities, John said two people reached out to him who claimed to know the author of the post. According to John, they asked if he would drop the charges if the person apologized. He said Brinkerhoff-Riley called him last week and claimed responsibility.

This accusation follows recent allegations that Brinkerhoff-Riley recorded and distributed transcripts of a closed-door meeting in March involving the city’s 2012 audit.

Brinkerhoff-Riley has been unavailable for comment. However, she is holding a press conference Monday morning at 10:30 in front of the Civic Center. Eyewitness News will be there.
