Former EMA Director Named Democratic Nominee for County Commisioner

The Vanderburgh County Democratic Party names Sherman Greer as the party's nominee for the District 2 County Commissioner seat.

The Vanderburgh County Democratic Party names Sherman Greer as the party's nominee for the District 2 County Commissioner seat.

Greer, a former Vanderburgh County Emergency Management Agency Director, made his announcement this morning at the County Highway Department.

Last summer controversy stirred between the EMA and Evansville Mayor Lloyd Winnecke. The mayor asked Greer to resign from the position.

At that time, Winnecke said he had lost trust in the 23-year EMA director after it was discovered the agency had overtime issues and an unauthorized vehicle purchase.

Greer later accused Winnecke of 'character assasination.'

Greer will face republican nominee Bruce Ungethiem in November.
