Former Mayoral Candidate Rick Davis' Family Releases Condition Update

Former Mayoral Candidate Rick Davis' family has released a statement regarding his current condition.

“Earlier today our family made two very important decisions. The first was to honor Rick’s wish to be an organ donor. The second decision was to remove him from life support at the appropriate time. The organ donation process takes 24 to 36 hours to complete, and Rick will remain on life support until matches have been found for his organs. Our journey is not complete and we ask that you continue to lift up Rick, our family, and the recipients of his organ donation in your prayers. Thank you again for your kind words. Please continue to respect the privacy of our family as we make a difficult transition in the coming days.”

An Evansville City Council member is asking for prayers for a former mayoral candidate. According to Stephanie Brinkerhoff-Riley's Facebook page, former Democratic Mayoral Candidate Rick Davis is on life support.

The post did not give any specifics, but Perry Township Trustee, Rick Riney tells Eyewitness News, Davis had an operation on August 11th to remove part of his intestines because of Crohn's disease. Riney says he has not heard from Davis in several days.

Eyewitness News has also reached out to several democrat party officials, who say they did not have any information on what may be happening with Davis. Davis served as the Vanderburgh County Treasurer from 2009-2013. He lost the 2011 mayor's race to Lloyd Winnecke.
