Those with brave souls and warm hearts take an icy dip to benefit Special Olympics Indiana. The 2014 Polar Plunge took place at Scales Lake in Boonville Saturday afternoon.

Plungers must raise a minimum of $75 to participate in the event, which helps raise funds and awareness for adults and children with intellectual disabilities. This year the Boonville Fire Department had to clear around five inches of ice from a section of the lake just so participants could take their plunge. Eyewitness News reporter and anchor Kayla Moody was among those who dove in the frigid water. Click the above video to see folks plunge into the icy lake.
