'Ground School' in the Tristate

Tristaters got up close and personal with two P-47 Thunderbolts as part of 'Ground School.'
Tristater's got an up close and personal look at two P-47 Thunderbolts this weekend.

It was a part of 'Ground School' offered by the Freedom Heritage Museum.
   
Pilots and non-pilots learned about the innerworkings of the plane.
   
92-year-old Allen Sanderson is familiar with P-47's;he flew them during WWII.
He says seeing the planes brings back memories.

Sanderson flew 118 missions over Italy and France.
He says he hopes people remember the River City's significance in the war.
   
Both P-47's on display were built in the River City.
