Lambda Legal has filed papers with the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals asking the court to recognize the marriage of Niki Quasney and Amy Sandler.
Quasney is battling stage 4 ovarian cancer. 
Last week US Federal Judge Richard Young ruled the same-sex marriage ban unconstitutional.
But, a stay filed last Friday stopped the marriage of same-sex couples in Indiana until the appeals court issues its decision.
