A Gun Control Law in Washington, DC, may soon be a thing of the past.
The nation's capital bans handguns in public.
But a federal court judge has now ruled that ban is unconstitutional.
In the ruling, issued Thursday and made public over the weekend, the judge said a total ban on carrying ready-to-use handguns could not be considered constitutional "under any level of scrutiny."
It's not clear what the immediate effect will be.
A group that advocates the right to bear firearms helped bring the lawsuit against the District of Columbia and its police chief.
