Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear appoints a former Miss America to be the commissioner of the state's Department of Veterans Affairs.
Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear appoints a former Miss America to be the commissioner of the state's Department of Veterans Affairs.

Heather French Henry will replace Ken Lucas, who will oversea the completion of the state's fourth nursing home in Radcliff.

Henry started the Heather French Foundation for veterans in 1999, shortly after being crowned Miss America.

She is married to former Lieutenant Governor Steve Henry of Owensboro.
