Heavy Trash Pickup Gets Underway in Evansville

The semi-annual collection service runs through May 30.
Heavy trash pick-up has begun in Evansville.
 
The semi-annual curbside service started on the far east side today in the Lincoln Avenue area by I-164 and will move west each day until May 30th.

The pickup is for city residents who pay for trash service with their water bill. Among the items that can be collected are carpet rolls, furniture, and appliances but there are limits to some of those things.

Heavy trash includes these items:

  • Sofas
  • Tables
  • Chairs
  • Mattresses and box springs

  • Stoves
  • Refrigerators
  • Washing machines
  • Clothes dryers
  • Water heaters
Appliance pickup is limited to 2 per address

  • Televisions
  • Stereos
  • Building materials
  • construction debris
Materials and debris be placed in trash cans or boxes that are no heavier than can reasonably be lifted by two average adults

  • Carpet
Must be rolled in sections no longer than 4 feet and no bigger than 2 feet in diameter

  • Privacy fence sections
Must be cut in half or to a smaller manageable size.


Heavy trash collectors will NOT pick up these items:

  • Concrete blocks
  • Steel poles
  • Automobile parts
  • Tires
  • Automotive or household batteries
  • Computer equipment
  • Hazardous materials.
Heavy trash should be placed wherever garbage is normally collected from the home. Set out all heavy trash items before 6 a.m. on the scheduled collection day.

Do not set out trash normally picked up each week.
