Evansville, Ind - Evansville police are alerting folks of home improvement scams.
The summer weather comes  with the possibility of various forms of construction scams. Officials say this is the prime time of year for home improvement fraud as well as driveway and paving scams. Sometimes the scammers are from out of state and may offer what seems like a price well below what local contractors quote.The police are encouraging homeowners and businesses to follow these steps.
  • Beware of solicitors for painting, paving, sealing, or other property improvement services.
  • It's recommended that you hire only licensed contractors who can provide proof of insurance and bonding.
  • Victims of scams should contact the  Evansville Police Department Financial Crimes Unit at (812) 436-7991.
