Hopkins Co. Man Dies in Weekend Accident

One person dies in a single-vehicle accident in Hopkins County over the weekend.
One person dies in a single-vehicle accident in Hopkins County over the weekend. It happened at 9:30 a.m. Sunday at the 47 mile marker on the Pennyrile Parkway just north of Madisonville.

The Hopkins County Sheriff Department reports a car driven by 54-year-old Teresa Tyson of Providence, Kentucky was driving north when her car apparently "hydroplaned", causing her to lose control. The vehicle then hit the guardrail, left the roadway, and hit a tree.

Authorities say the passenger, 90-year-old Lonnie Todd of Madisonville, was taken to Baptist Health and transferred to Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, where he died from his injuries. Tyson was not injured.

The Hanson Fire Department and Medical Center Ambulance Service also assisted in the accident.
